Room history
The Rex suite got its name from the current owner of the castle, the manager of Forever Resorts. An interesting detail is that rex is a Latin word which means king. It’s just a coincidence that the person who lived in this room was none other than Count Teleki Pál.
Teleki Pál was at odds with the government because of his political views, so when the gendarmery came to take him away, he escaped on a secret route. For his escape, he used the passage in the walls of the castle because he had to act fast. Luckily, in the main building, the windows face the entrance gate so he noticed the danger in time and he had time to flee. Some say the count let his mistresses in through here. The iron door found in the room was kept in its original form, anyone can admire it. Interesting fact is that these passages could still be used today since we modernized them so you don’t have to grab a candle before going through them!
