Faithful to the heritage of his family, Teleki József also chose a political career. He excelled not only as a historian, but also as a writer, several of his works have been released. He is mostly known as the prime governor of Transylvania, although he was a part of the Magyar Tudományos Akadémia (Hungarian Science Academy) and also its first president and one of its founders. His name is also in connection with the foundation of the Akadémiai Könyvtár (Academy Library), too. After the revolution of 1848 he resigned and dedicated.
