The mansion was acquired by the Dégenfeld family through marriage, they used it until 1944. Dégenfeld Lajos was the last person among the owners who acted as a professional politician. He loved this countryside, so when he finished his studies, he managed his estates in Nógrád county, and took part in the public affairs of the county. In 1872, the Szirák district elected him to be member of parliament, where he belonged to the centre-left party, and later he became the Lord Lieutenant of Nógrád county.
